Yehudi Menuhin called him his musical grandson. Today Daniel Hope is one of the world’s most celebrated violinists. He is also a true citizen of the world: born in South Africa to an Irish father and a mother with German roots, he grew up in England and today lives in Berlin. A former member of the renowned Beaux Arts Trio, he enjoys a prolific solo career, embarks on unusual projects and writes books. He is this year’s artist in residence in Echternach.
His duo partner is a similarly multifaceted artist: pianist, chamber musician and conductor Simon Crawford-Phillips, who was appointed chief conductor and artistic adviser of Sweden’s Våsterås Sinfonietta in 2017 and is also the director of the Swedish Change Music Festival in Nora Halland.
